First, this wasn't technically a newborn. Baby Diego was about five weeks when I photographed him. I now know I should've done the session at no later than two weeks. Also, I learned that the light is most flattering when positioned above the head, not below, like I did. In any case, here are the images. Diego's parents are my friends, and I'm lucky they trusted me to take these photos and most importantly, allowed me to get more experience.
